I was wondering if thinning your hair is permanent, and whether its a good idea?

I have short thick hair, sometimes I like it, but sometimes it just doesn't work. I was wondering about thinning, I don't know much about it. I have tried layers but the hairdresser always does long layers and I'm not sure what exactly to ask for.

What they do is use thinning scissors (half a blade, half a comb) which only cut some hairs, making your hair thinner.

try asking for shorter,choppier layers,and find a picture online and take it with you. thinning is only temporary x

i have really curly hair and its really thick..ive gotten it thinned before but it always goes back to normal..im not sure what the results of your hair would be tho..thats just my lil story lol try some websites(:
